Welcome to my Weekly Updates page!

Jake Gellatly

Briefly describe the project:

What have you accomplished this week?

What problems have you overcome this week?

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?

10-30-07

Briefly describe the project:

We are building an RC car with 2 back wheels and a central front rotational point.

What have you accomplished this week?

This week we attached the 2 motors, created a central connection unit, attached the motors to the unit, and began construction on a new remote.

What problems have you overcome this week?

We were having trouble with screw sizes, but eventually we got the right size and now everything seems in order.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?

We need to build an entirely new remote which may take a little time. We will overcome this by having both of us work the entire next class on just the remote.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?

We still need help figuring out how to do the LED lights, so we will probably ask someone who knows how to do it.

10-18-07

Briefly describe the project:

We are now working on transforming our jumper car into a car with 2 wheels with independent movement and motors.

What have you accomplished this week?

Right now we are working on attaching the 2 motors and working on creating the central connection unit.

What problems have you overcome this week?

We were using screws that were too large originally and were causing the wood to split, so now we are going to have to use thinner screws.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?

The biggest problem we now face is creating an entirely new remote because the last one was too small and didnt allow for enough connections.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?

We need smaller screws which we will be able to obtain from you, and then we also need to get new wood to build the new remote\install the components on the remote.

10-11-07

Briefly describe the project:

We buildin a robo jumper! It has a motor which rotates a uneven weight to created vibration.

What have you accomplished this week?

This week we built a remote, attached the 2 switches, made one switch a forward reverse switch, we built a rotaty jumpy thing, we built a battery pack, and we arae working on attaching the LEDS to the entire system.

What problems have you overcome this week?

This week we figured out how to create a reverse polarity switch, as well as figuring out how to build a 4 battery battery pack.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?

This biggest problem we are now facing is how to attach the LEDS into the circutry beacuse the LEDS have a positive and negative lead specifically.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?

We are going to figure how to incorperate the LEDS into the design by either talking to timmy or mr connors or someone else who is good with this kind of circutry.

9-28-07

Briefly describe the project:

We are building jumper cars that are reliant on a motor that rotates with a weight on the end with uneven distribution. There are supposed to be an on and off switch, as well as forward and reverse. We are also working on completeing a remote for control.

What have you accomplished this week?

This week we built the body of the jumper car, as well as attaching legs and the motor. We built the body of the remote and attached the switches too it. We are working on getting the battery packs completed too add the power supply.

What problems have you overcome this week?

We were having trouble attaching the motor to the body, it kept falling out. To overcome this we used nuts and bolts to attach it securely.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?

We are trying to figure out how to make a 2 way switch, as well as how to attach light emmiting diodes to signify power on or off, and forward or reverse power.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?

We need 3 led lights, as well as some wire to connect all the parts. We will get them out of the back closet and from what you supply.
